It will do so through an MoU under which the Company will train over 30,000 individuals/Uber partner-drivers in safe-driving over a period of 3 years. The initiative is aimed at providing aspiring commercial drivers with micro-entrepreneurship opportunities and equipping them with the skill to operate on the Uber platform.

This happens after a week-long maintenance closure. The company had advanced the maintenance closure by three weeks to June 6-11, following a fire at the Manesar facilities of its supplier, Subros Ltd, on May 29. Maruti produces around 5,000 units a day from its two plants at Gurgaon and Manesar, which together have an annually capacity of rolling out 15 lakh units.
Maruti Suzuki resumed production across its two manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar in Haryana. The company had temporarily suspended production across its plants in the state from 2nd half on Saturday due to disruption in the supply of components on account of widespread agitation by the Jat community. The company has incurred production loss of 10,000 vehicles since then and is making arrangements to make-up for it over the next few days.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, India’s biggest carmaker by sales, said it had suspended operations at its northern auto plants after protests disrupted the supply of some components. In a statement posted on its website, Maruti Suzuki said it had stopped manufacturing at the Manesar and Gurgaon plants on Saturday. The factories produce a combined 5,000 vehicles daily. Five people have so far died in protests in Haryana, the BBC reported on Sunday, as demonstrators from the Jat community rallied against the caste quota system.
